Michelle Arellano, Chief Executive Officer
Michelle Arellano brings more than twenty-two years of professional expertise to her role as CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County. Accepting the leadership position in 2001, she brought with her a strong fiscal sense of responsibility and desire to expand the community reach of the club. Her business acumen, coupled with her in-depth knowledge of the Boys & Girls Clubs, has transformed the organization from a local club to a regional youth development agency. Since 2001, the operating budget has more than quadrupled to over $2,000,000, and the number of youths served has expanded more than seven times to reach 6,000. Additionally, she has leveraged her local relationships to develop a strong foundation of financial and community supporters. Prior to her executive post, she had a successful thirteen-year banking career, most recently as vice president of Mission Oaks National Bank. Arellano also served on the club's Board of Directors for three years as treasurer, vice chair, and chair. A native of California, Arellano has two teenage boys who have actively participated in the club's AM/PM program for eight years.
Rhonda Guaderrama, Director of Operations
Hired earlier this year as the Clubs' Resource and Grants Coordinator, Guaderrama was recently promoted to Director of Operations. With a double major in Administration and Legal Processes and Ethnic Studies, she has twenty years of leadership experience in operations, programmatic, and fiscal management. Her expertise in strategic planning, program evaluation, and personnel management, combined with her extensive background in volunteer coordination and public relations will ensure that the agency succeeds in meeting its goals and objectives through this period of rapid growth.
Kathy McNamara, Director of Finance and Human Resources
Kathy McNamara joined the Boys & Girls Clubs as Director of Finance and Human Resources with over twenty years of financial/management experience, including having served as the vice president of data management and operations for a publishing company and general manager and treasurer of a medical supply firm. Her extensive volunteer commitment to youth groups includes serving as co-leader and treasurer of a Girl Scouts unit and president of a softball league for five years. She received the distinguished volunteer award from the California Parent Teacher Association for her efforts in fundraising for an elementary school in her community.
Kimberly Webb, Director of Development
Growing up in Simi Valley, Kimberly first became involved in the Boys & Girls Club movement there as a basketball coach and later a team leader for both the educational and activity centers. She later moved to San Diego, attended San Diego State University, and graduated with a B.A. in Public Administration. Upon graduation, Webb became the Resource Development Coordinator for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego where she was awarded Professional of the Year in 2003. As an active community leader, she has served on the board of several organizations, spearheaded numerous special events, and developed strong organizational skills. Since joining the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest County in 2004, Kimberly has been instrumental in implementing the Annual Giving Campaign, raising over $50,000 in its first year, and increased grant awards by 35%.
Janice Jackson, Area Director
Janice has served and volunteered with children through the schools and church organizations for over 20 years. Her children inspired her to go back to college and after 12 years, she earned a Certificate in Paralegal Studies, Associates in General Education, and a Bachelors Degree in Sociology. She began working with Boys & Girls Clubs of SWC after doing an internship at Great Oak High School while completing her Bachelors Degree at Cal State San Marcos. She enjoy organizing and planning events for children and families in the community. Janice and her husband have lived in the Temecula Valley for 8 years with their four children and a brand new granddaughter.
John Whann, Area Director
Alumni of the Palm Springs Boys & Girls Club
First Job: Jr. Camp Counselor at the Palm Springs Boys & Girls Club Graduated from San Diego State University and majored in Recreation System Management. John has been working with the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest County for a little over a year, but has worked for non-profit organizations for about four years. He is very excited about his new position as Area Director and the new responsibilities that comes with it. John will still be involved with sports and its growth and the growth of the Sports staff, but most of all will help with the growth and development of the Old Town Clubhouse and Pechanga Great Oak Clubhouse and its staff. "We have two great Unit Directors at both sites with Melissa at Great Oak and David at Old Town, and I will assist them in their daily administrative work in order for them to better serve our community."
Susanne Mata, Grants & Public Relations Director
Susanne Mata’s background includes receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Marcos and working for three different non-profits over the past seven years. Susanne came to the Boys & Girls Clubs of SWC after working for Family Service Association of Western Riverside County for three years as the Resource Development Specialist. In 2007, she was promoted to the agency’s Grant/Resource Development Director expanding her role to include staff training and increased community outreach. In her position, she wrote and managed grants for a variety of child and family centered programs. Notable successes include obtaining $1,800,000 in grant funding to support increased preschool and child care spaces for children ages 0-5 from First Five Riverside County; $54,175 from The Weingart Foundation to support a youth leadership program; over $375,000 in funding over 2 years from the Morongo Tribal Council to support the James A. Venable (Cabazon) Community Center and $250,000 from the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services for support of Child Abuse Treatment (CHAT) Services for victims of child abuse.
Jafari Wallace, Information Technology Director
Jafari Wallace has worked in the Computer and Information Technology industry since the early 90's and has a great love for technology. He is a native Californian with a love for Southern foods, Anime, Sushi, and fishing. He also has worked for Technology Departments such as Delkin Devices, Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, and the Riverside County Superior Courts.
